Difficulty levels

1 of 5: Easy

Mental:

Take it easy! Kick back with breathtaking views, different cultural experiences and beautiful ice and mountains. Light activity which allows you to make your mind wander. Full Greenlandic comfort and good meals.

Hiking:

Estimated travel time: up to 2-5 hours per day.
Hiking - vertical alteration: Less than 300 meters of elevation gain per day.

Kayaking:

Number of days: up to 1 day.
Estimated time of traveling per day: up to 2-4 hours.
Distance per day: up to 3-10 km.

Previous experience:

Initiation trip, no experience in the activity requested.
You only need to carry the backpack of the day. No portage.

2 of 5: Easy to Moderate

Mental:

Be there! If you want to try something new in a different environment, take time to get an understanding of the activity and enjoy it. Enjoy being in the here and now.

Hiking:

Estimated travel time: up to 4-6 hours per day.
Hiking - vertical alteration: up to 500 meters elevation gain per day possible.

Kayaking:

Number of days: up to 2 days.
Estimated time of traveling per day: up to 4-5 hours.
Distance per day: up to 10-15 km.

Previous experience:

Initiation trip, no experience in the activity requested, but you should be in a good physical condition. You only need to carry the backpack of the day. No portage.

3 of 5: Moderate

Mental:

Go wild! Move from one campsite to another on a journey through the wild. You can expect a new place to sleep every night, appropriate physical challenges and a warm meal in good company at the end of the day. Most of the time the weather gods work in our favour, but sometimes we have to put our head down and fight the forces of nature.

Hiking:

Estimated travel time: 5-7 hours per day.
Hiking - vertical alteration: Up to 800 meters of elevation gain per day possible.

Kayaking:

Number of days: up to 6-8 days.
Estimated time of traveling per day: 5-7 hours.
Distance per day: 12-20 km.

Previous experience:

You should have tried the involved activities at least once before the trip. You should be in good physical condition and be physically active on a regular basis. You just need to carry the backpack of the day. No portage.

4 of 5: Challenging

Mental:

Are you up for a challenge? Lets go out and explore, dance on the line of your comfort zone and challenge the forces of nature.

Hiking:

Estimated travel time: 5-8 hours per day.
Hiking - vertical alteration: Over 800 meters of elevation gain per day possible.

Kayaking:

Number of days: 8-14 days
Estimated time of traveling per day: 6-9 hours
Distance per day: 15-30 km

Previous experience:

You should have experienced a similar trip in the Arctic or in a remote area. You should be in very good physical condition and be physically active on a regular basis. There could be portage on the hiking trip. If we travel through remote areas for longer periods of time, the difficulty level could rise to 5, because of the mental challenges caused by bad weather and isolation.

5 of 5: Hard

Mental:

Go all out! Leave the big world behind and focus on the objective.

Hiking:

Estimated travel time: 6-10+ hours per day.
Hiking - vertical alteration: Often over 800 meters of elevation gain per day.

Kayaking:

Number of days: 10-18 days
Estimated time of traveling per day: 6-10 hours
Distance per day: 15-35 km

Previous experience:

You should have experienced an expedition with the same activities in the Arctic or in a remote destination. You need to be able to carry all the equipment during the trip. You should be in very good physical and mental condition and be physically active on a regular basis.
