Day 1: Reykjavík - Guided tour of Kulusuk - Reykjavík
Your Arctic experience starts from the domestic airport of Reykjavik from where you will take your flight to East Greenland. After only 2 hours flight, you will arrive in Kulusuk. Upon arrival, our guides will escort us from the airport to the engaging village Kulusuk (3 km/1,8 mile walk) where we can stroll about and meet some of the 250 local residents and view their quality crafts.
Kulusuk is the gateway to East Greenland and the small settlement is an excellent introduction to the way of life in a settlement in the Ammassalik area. Kulusuk lies on a small rocky island between saw-toothed mountains and extensive fjords, and it is almost always surrounded by icebergs and a glittering Arctic Ocean.
In the tiny village of Kulusuk you will get a good glimpse of the everyday life on the east coast of Greenland. On this 3 hour tour you will walk through this colorful settlement, visit a private museum that presents many of the arctic traditions used by the pioneers that inhabited this remote area and visit the beautiful church of Kulusuk. All in all, a rich presentation of modern life in a remote arctic village on the east coast of Greenland characterised by its Inuit traditions.
In the afternoon, you will fly back to Reykjavik.
