Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tasiilaq

After arriving in Kulusuk you will take the helicopter to Tasiilaq. Upon arrival in Tasiilaq you will be picked up from the heliport and brought to your accommodation. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore the settlement. Dinner will be served at your accommodation. We spend the night in the house in Tasiilaq and with a little lucky we will see the northern lights dancing over the settlement.

Day 2: Dogsledding to the Sermilik Fjord

Departure up through Ammassalik island to the Coffee Bar, which is not actually a coffee place, but a beautiful spot in the middle of the island, where everyone stops to have a coffee break. After the break we turn towards the Sermilik fjord, crawl to 500 meters to the top of a mountain, which leads us down through a river bed. The view on this trip is fantastic, you can see the ice fjord and the ice sheet on the horizon. We go down the mountain until we come to a valley. Here we turn up a mountain into another valley, which leads us all the way down to the fjord. At the edge of the fjord, we will find the hut in which we will spend the night. The view from the hut is spectacular over the Sermillik with the icebergs frozen into the ice. If you wish, we can walk up the mountain on snowshoes to get a 360 degrees view of the entire area. We spend the night in the hut. With a little luck we might see the spectacular northern lights.

Day 3: Dogsledding back to Tasiilaq

Today we pack our gear and head back to Tasiilaq through the beautiful landscape. We spend the night in the house in Tasiilaq and might see the northern lights over the settlement.

Day 4: Day at leisure in Tasiilaq or optional Snowmobile tour to Tiniteqilaaq

You have today at leisure. You could take a walk through town and visit the museum.Or just relax after the adventurous trip and even have a hot stone massage. You could also go for an optional snowmobiling tour to the small settlement of Tiniteqilaaq with only 120 inhabitants who live of hunting. On this tour we will stop at a number of spots where we have great view and we will drive over the Tinit glacier. This is a fantastic trip, wich shows you another part of the Ammassalik island than you saw on your dogsledding trip. We spend the night in the house in Tasiilaq and might see the northern lights over the settlement.

Day 5: End of trip

After breakfast your you will take the helicopter back to Kulusuk.

Remark

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, thus we cannot guarantee that you will see them during your trip. However, if you are traveling in Greenland from end of August to end of March, chances are good that you will be able to observe them, but best deep in the winter (from mid November to mid March). If you travel in April it is unlikely to see the Northern Lights as days are already to bright.
